Who is Ankit Sakhuja?
Hello!! I’m Ankit Sakhuja, and I’ve spent the last six years living in Germany. I moved here in 2016 to study Master’s degree in Electrical Engineering and Information Technology at Hochschule Darmstadt University, and I am now employed as a software engineer.
I love making videos, travelling, meeting new people and knowing their life journeys. I am also obsessed with playing Dota and am a big time foodie.
A little dive into my life journey so far.
Going back a little further in time, I was always an average performer in school. Scores were the only thing that defined you, your life, and your career back then. When I graduated from high school to college, reality hit me hard. I wanted to be an engineer, primarily a software engineer, so like everyone else, I studied hard in 12th grade to obtain the top grades and pass IIT examinations. Like other students who aspire to enter IIT, I failed, and in my heart, I feared my career was over before it ever began. I took admission to another engineering college in my city because if it wasn’t IIT, what was the point? But I afterwards regretted it. I was even more unhappy once I started my job. Being another engineer in India struggling for work and even struggling to make ends meet. However, the fire within me did not die; I believed I could achieve more, and I needed a fresh start. So I resolved to work hard and advance my career. I began preparing for admission abroad for Masters. Oh, I almost forgot to say that I am from the middle class, and money is really important in a family with an average income. With a low budget but a great desire, I focused on getting into German public universities, changing my subject from electronics to IT, and transforming my life for the better.I had no mentor to guide me, but I did it anyhow, and I am proud of myself. From the day I realized my worth to the day I paid off all my debts, and even now, I am working hard to attain my goals. One thing I noticed is that hardships never end; you will always face new challenges. After coming to Germany it was again a big hustle to manage accommodation, funds, overcome the language barrier, and to adapt to the new social environment.
What is the aim of `Ankit in Germany´?
I believe there are many people like Ankit who aspire to do more but lack a mentor to help them. So I created this platform as an initiative to share my experiences with those who want to travel overseas to grow their careers and lives. It wasn’t simple for me, therefore I assist with clarity on procedures, opportunities, and possibilities. I am relieved that everything worked out, and I am now willing to assist others who share my ambitions. I will provide up-to-date information on studying, careers, culture, and much more. I will also share my living abroad tips and hacks.
